About This Place

Nestled in the heart of New York’s vibrant SoHo district, Soho Diner offers a nostalgic yet fresh take on the classic American diner experience. This retro-style establishment effortlessly blends the charm of a 1950s eatery with modern culinary flair, creating a welcoming atmosphere that feels both familiar and exciting. From the moment you step inside, the boombox music sets a lively, memorable tone, transporting diners into a warm, cinematic world that delights the senses.

The menu at Soho Diner is a carefully crafted celebration of American diner classics with inventive twists, ensuring there’s something to satisfy every palate. Signature dishes like the Huevos Rancheros and Farmer’s Breakfast are hearty, flavorful options that burst with bold textures and vibrant flavors. For lovers of indulgence with a comforting crunch, the Fried Chicken Sandwich and Fried Chicken & Waffles are standouts—crispy, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. The Soho Burger and Cheeseburger with Fries deliver rich, savory satisfaction, while the lovingly crafted Soho’s Famous Matzo Ball Soup adds a unique, soulful touch to the lineup.

Vegetarian and vegan diners are equally well-catered to, with irresistible choices like the Vegan Banana Pancakes and Smashed Avocado Toast topped with poached eggs and smoked salmon. These dishes offer fresh, healthful flavors that don’t compromise on indulgence, showcasing the diner’s thoughtful attention to diverse dietary preferences. The sweet tooth will find solace in luscious desserts and treats such as creamy milkshakes and the famously malted waffle, rounding out an experience that marries comfort with culinary creativity.

Customers consistently praise Soho Diner’s spacious interior, which is especially appreciated by those who know how cramped New York diners can be. The decor perfectly captures a mid-century vibe with modern touches, offering a bright, airy setting enhanced by both indoor and inviting outdoor seating options. The friendly and attentive staff adds an extra layer of warmth, making every visit feel personal and well-cared for—even late at night, when the diner still hums with energy and charm.

From Diana Hidalgo’s delight in the movie-like ambiance and generous portions to Michaela M’s appreciation of the veggie-friendly menu and beautiful surroundings, Soho Diner stands out as a spot that leaves lasting impressions. Though some, like Cristobal Negrete, note the portion sizes might be slightly modest relative to their price, the overall quality and impeccable presentation make it a worthwhile trade-off. The late-night vibrancy and classic American comfort food come together seamlessly to create a location that’s both a nostalgic getaway and a contemporary culinary destination.

Whether you’re craving a soulful breakfast with Avocado Toast with Poached Eggs and Salmon, a flaky Montauk Tuna Melt, or a milkshake that perfectly balances creamy sweetness with nostalgia, Soho Diner promises an authentic and uplifting experience. It’s a place where every bite tells a story—one of care, tradition, and vibrant New York energy.

This is not some run down old diner, everything here is impecable. They have clearly taken the time and put in the work to make this look pristine. The food is good, the fries in particular were flawless. The almond milk latte was great too. I expected the portions to be a little bit bigger for the price, but overall a good trade off. Service was pretty good, just not particularly enthusiastic. They do not make you feel like you have overstayed your welcome if you linger, which is good I would gladly return.

Gorgeous retro-style modern diner. Beautiful decor, super friendly and helpful waiter, great food and lots of veggie options. Lovely location with outdoor seating options, and good music. Super spacious especially compared to other diner style restaurants.

The vibes were off the charts, perfectly captured the 50s diner aesthetic. We ordered a cheesecake and cherry pie for dessert, didn't have a chance to try the rest of the menu though it looked somewhat promising. Expensive as always in New York, admittedly I'm not a huge pie or cheesecake fan so I thought they were alright. Big bonus is the place is open late.

We stopped by SoHo Diner in NYC for a quick late-night snack before they closed and it did not disappoint! Hubby had the SoHo Burger along with a root beer float and I a double vanilla milkshake. The burger was flavorful and satisfying, and both drinks were the perfect classic treats – creamy, sweet, and nostalgic. Service was friendly even though it was close to closing, and the vibe was exactly what you’d want from a modern diner with a retro twist. Definitely worth the visit!

I came here on a Saturday in the late afternoon myself, was able to be seated out the counter although there were several open booths as well. Ordered the steak and eggs, then a toasted marshmallow milkshake. The size of the steak and eggs alarmed me at first but they really did taste good; noticeably better than your average diner's steak and eggs. The steak here came dressed with a tasty chimichurri sauce that gave a nice base to meaty taste, and the eggs were rich and creamy, wish there was more of it. Sadly I didn't take a picture of the milkshake but it was good, however given this diner's "old school" vibe, I was expecting a goblet containing some extra shake, but you just get single cup and one toasted marshmallow. Throughout the meal, the service was a bit slow, expect to flag waiters down yourself for requests. Overall, this is a decent spot for food to prime you for a long shopping day in Soho, or to wind down after one
